The RED wire is the 24 volt wire so that would be the one that is likely grounded somewhere. You could go to the store and get a new thermostat cable. Take a short whip and connect the new cable to the unit and the thermostat and see. If it works then your cable in the wall is bad ... Only thing of note is that adjustments made on the thermostat itself occasionally get overwritten by Infinitude, so my family uses exclusively HA or Google home to make adjustments now, which is better than the interface on that POS anyhow.
